Deutschland from the Photographs Suite

This piece, for solo trumpet and electronics, is inspired by a picture taken in the Alps in Wangen, Germany. The electronic accompaniment represents the village, with its rush and busyness. The solo, in contrast, is slow and peaceful, and gradually calms the frenzy of the village, causing everyone to pause and listen. In the quiet, the soloist improvises from the heart, playing to the horizon.
